Nissan Skyline R34 GTR
The R34 GT-R was introduced in January 1999 and bettered its predecessor’s performance in almost every department. Basically, the new car is built upon the improved technology of its predecessors. Since Nissan’s market research had found out that most people preferred the smaller R32’s nimbleness to the larger R33’s handling.
The Skyline counts as an everyday supercar – it feels safe, solid and confidence-inspiring. It has been designed for the road, and so behaves in normal circumstances, though of course, it can cut it on the track as well! It is straightforward, the controls are easy, despite all the gadgets, and all-round visibility is excellent, despite the large rear wing. The amazing four-wheel drive system, the fantastic grip, the thrust of the engine, the slick new Getrag low-ratio six-speed gearbox and the ideally-weighted steering all gel together perfectly
The best Gran Turismo to ever come from the land of the rising sun. It is “The Real Supercar” – maybe a bit over styled, maybe senselessly fast in a time of rising fuel-prices and ever increasing traffic jams – but certainly entertaining!
